Hello, I am 25 years old singer-songwriter Comma. I usually enjoyed doing acoustic music until fall of last year. For this year, I am putting my effort to do music with electric and acoustic mood. The name came from the letter ‘comma(,)’, and I chose it because I will continuously do acoustic music, thinking that acoustic music is like calm breath that relaxes people. I hope people can have rest from the calmness of my music, so that’s why I named it like that.

Q. Hello, please introduce yourself briefly.

Hello, I am 25 years old singer-songwriter Comma. I usually enjoyed doing acoustic music until fall of last year. For this year, I am putting my effort to do music with electric and acoustic mood.

Q. Is there any meaning for name ‘Comma’?

There is no special means to the name. It came from the letter ‘comma(,)’, and I chose it because I will continuously do acoustic music, thinking that acoustic music is like calm breath that relaxes people. I hope people can have rest from the calmness of my music, so that’s why I named it like that.

Q. What made you to decide to do music?

I think I had heart to do music since I was 6 to 7 years old though I was not very clear about this goal. At that time, I was deeply into musicians shown on TV shows, and eventually want to follow their footstep. This dream was not obscure until me going through adolescence. I was only listening to the music, and suddenly thought that I should refresh myself with composing music. ‘I should write my own songs!’, then I started to create melody, and put various sources and beats. I found myself that I loved the process of composing songs, so I started it professionally.

Q. What artist influenced your music?

I was mostly influenced by GD(Big Bang)’s music when I was young. After I started to compose music as professionally, I felt in love with Sting’s music; those were mainly about his passion of not afraid of changing. I was fascinated with the philosophy in his lyric, and reflect it to myself. My style of composing song is influenced by him, and I try to follow his style, with knowing the importance of the lyric.

Q. Please tell me about your next song!

I think the album requires some type of certain theme in the production stage. I already have some works done, but I want to complete on album when every works are well-categorized by its musical colors. I can simply explain it as harmonization of ‘electric’ and ‘acoustic’.

Q. Was there any memorable moment when you are doing music career?

I didn’t have many concert experiences, so there were fewer chances for me to deliver my emotions. Also, when my first song was released, I was not able to put my full emotions into the song; these were a bit sad. I regret it to myself ‘What would it be if I could make it with more quality’

Q. Do you have any hobby other than music?

I got new hobbies recently; I read a lot of books and watch many movies. Also, I write daily journal to record my emotions. When I am organizing my thoughts on the page, I find what I should do for my future. I am very thankful for this.

Q. Who do you want to collaborate with in the future?

Sting, Bonob, Lianne la havas, and Submotion Orchestra. They do music with the themes of electronic and orchestra together; I learned a lot about music harmony from them when I started doing midi music.

Q. Do you have a special playlist of your own?

Q. Do you have any future plan?

Unfortunately, I will mainly focus on my own story when composing songs rather than other people’s story. I wish to give out my songs to other people to delivering my emotions, and those songs will probably have my characteristics in. It might be a bit embarrassing, but that’s why I want to be a good person doing good music, to naturally open myself up to public.
