Q. Hi, please give us a brief introduction of yourself.
Hi, I¡¯m Haor who¡¯s playing fusion of funk, folk and R&B. With mixture of funky vibe and acoustic guitar, I tried to break the norm of folk music, combining it with R&B style. It turned out to be a unique style of genre.
Q. What led you to playing music?
I decided to learn songwriting after I listened to Kevin Kern¡¯s <Green Piano>.
Q. What is your music colour?
Through my music, I examine the corners of society with careful examination and acute expression. And I¡¯m delicate and peculiar when I talk about emotions. My music is strong with warm feelings.
Q. Where do you get your inspirations?
Beside inspirations I get from daily modern society, people I meet or things I see as I play on the streets become my inspirations.
Q. What is music to you?
I basically like expressing my thoughts and feelings through creation. Music is like a representative of my soul.
Q. Tell us about your newly released album.
The song is called <Inner Play>. I am not used to expressing my emotion on my face immediately, so I keep my impression inside. And as I make a decision, I do it inside. This song is about the girl with a pony tail I met at the convenience store. It¡¯s about my curiosity of her. Her shaking pony tail lingers in front of my eyes. As if hypnotized by a pendulum, I gradually fall in love. I wait, imagine, misunderstand, get anxious, and disappointed. Then, I get excited and despair. Mind keeps playing around in the process of searching a pony tailed girl. How should I begin the story of us? <Inner Play> is the first of the series. I am also excited about the next story. I hope you like it and please wait for it coming.
Q. Is there any special song to you?
The song is called <Detour>. I wrote it when I was lethargic emotionally. The song encouraged me a lot. And many fans told me that they were consoled and encouraged. That¡¯s why the song is so special.
Q. What are some happiest and worst moments in your music career?
The most impressive moment was when the very first album I made <Comfort Zone> was released and I received the printed album at the factory for the first time. I saw myself like a child. Because despite of the fact I had no label, I never gave up trying with passionate mind, only pursuing music with supports from my friends. I tried, challenged, and finally completed the album from scratch. That¡¯s why the album is so meaningful to me. I want to tell people who are working on their dreams that cheer up and don¡¯t be limited by others, just do what you like because that¡¯s the simplest happiness.
And the toughest moment is as I play on the streets. People come and by, gather and shatter. It looks like I¡¯m surrounded by people, but actually I¡¯m alone there. I feel like ¡®it is really difficult to let people hear creative work.¡¯
Q. Who are your influences?
Of course there are many. I always check out the latest release. Especially, Brian McKnight, BabyFace, Ed Sheeran are my influences.
Q. What is your charming point?
I think I look the coolest when I focus on music (laughter). I hope you feel that I am creating with sincere and passionate mind, as you listen to me playing.
Q. What kind of musician do you want to be?
I hope my creativity influences people, and I also hope that whenever they¡¯re feeling tired or happy, they listen to my music.
Q. What is your plan for the future?
I am releasing a new album <HOW>, and I am making in an unprecedented method. Every track in the album is a part of a long story. It will start in March, and I will release an EP every month, which will be complete as a story later.
