Q. Hi! Please give us a brief introduction of yourself.

We are the only country rock band in Korea, Texas Karaoke. Texas Karaoke started as a project by Yun Young-kwon, who’ has various experiences as a band musician for 10 years. Later, Kim Dae-won and Yoo Rang who are very skillful musicians came in. Now the band is performing as a trio.

Q. Is there a special meaning in your band name?

Texas stands for not a specific region but a hometown in people’s mind or heaven. Karaoke means our songs that might sound trifle but truthful. Our songs have easy and simple melodies and lyrics, and we hope they encourage and impress people.

Q. What’s everyone’s role in the band?

Yun Young-kwon: I play guitar and sing. I started this as a solo project, so I wrote all the songs and lyrics.

Kim Dae-won: I’m on the drums and also edit music

Yu Rang: I’m the guitarist and I’m in charge of creating overall style of music and editing music. I’m planning to collaborate on songwriting as well.

Q. What are some special characteristics of your band?

Our strength is easy and simple melodies and lyrics. The sound of the best country guitarist Yu Rang is outstanding. Also, our strong performance on the stage is our strength.

Q. What would be the keywords of your band?

Our keywords are hometown, rest, healing, and longing. We hope to give people in Korean and all over the world peace and joy by our music.

Q. Please tell us about your albums

In August 2016, we participated in soundtracks for the movie “the Worst Day” with our song “Your Blue Sea,” and we released our single album in December 2016, “Your Blue Sea.” Also, our track “Good Morning” was chosen for OST of “Entourage” which Hyukoh and Dok2 participated in as well.

Q. What’s the songwriting process? Do you have special sources of inspiration?

Our inspirations come from family and friends, and traveling and special situations led us to making music. We don’t just sit there and try to make music.

Q. What are some happiest and toughest moments in your music career?

We’re the happiest when fans love our newly released album. And it was the toughest when our band members all parted from each other and when we couldn’t play music for a while.

Q. What’s the plan for the future?

We will continue releasing albums and performing. Also, we will try making awesome sound with good musicians.
